Belinda Mosby – Ward 1
-Lived in Chicago Heights for almost 48 years
-Holds no other positions within Chicago Heights
-Future plans are to make her ward a fun place to play and live. She also wants to make it a safe family environment. Her first project is to start a community news letter to make people aware of things going on in and around the community. Then she would like to create a community board made up of concerned citizens that are willing to work for a common goal. She would also like to work with the school system to create an after school program for children in the ward.
About Belinda: She was born and raised in Chicago Heights. She is the third of seven children. She is married with two children and four grandchildren. She attended two years at Harold Washington College and is currently a returning student at Roosevelt University. She works for the Northern Trust band for the past 29 years. She enjoys reading, traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.
Fernando Desiderio – Ward 2
-First time commissioner
-Lived in Chicago Heights for 20 years
-Holds no other positions within Chicago Heights
-Future plans are to find ways to make the parks of the second ward better and safer. He also wants to improve recreational programs for the park district
About Fernando: I have lived in this city for 20 years. I enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve after high school and would love nothing more than to see this city get back on its feet.
Jimmy Burnett – Ward 3
-Served as commissioner for 3 months
-Is a lifelong resident of Chicago Heights
-Does not hold any other positions within the city
-Future plans are to improve the parks and bring programs and different activities
About Jimmy: He is a lifelong resident of Chicago Heights and also an entrepreneur. He is also a person that just likes working with people.
Jessica Garner – Ward 5
-Served as commissioner since April 2009
-Lives in Chicago Heights since April 1980
-Does not hold any other elected positions in the city
-Future plans are to improve the quality of recreation and park experiences
About Jessica: She states that ‘God has given me the opportunity to become a public servant, a role that is more fulfilling than words can describe.’ It has always been her passion to help others, and as park commissioner she believes she is allowed to do that.
Robert Benavides – Ward 6
Kenny Ochoa - Ward 7
-Served as commissioner since June 2011
-Lives in Chicago Heights for 37 years.
-Does not hold any other elected positions in the city
-Future plans are hold more camps for kids during the seasonal months and promote more activities for the community to bring unity.
About Kenny: He is a diesel mechanic. Graduated from Prarie State and was a baseball coach.
